Fairy Bower Falls, Bundanoon, NSW

This weekĀ Australia To YouĀ wanted to share with you a beautiful bush walk thatĀ we did this weekend called Fairy Bower Falls. Located in the superb Morton National Park, we accessed this enormous National Park via the beautiful regional town of Bundanoon located in NSWā€™s gorgeous Southern Highlands region.

For those of you wanting to do this walk Iā€™d suggest visiting the Tourism Information Centre at Mittagong and asking for advice, and how to prepare including getting the right map, just Google ā€˜Mittagong Visitor Information Centreā€™.

You can drive your car into the start of the walk, via the Gullies Road which soon turns into Echo Point Road, the starting point to the walk is quite well sign posted but we would suggest you take a map with you and get guidance to locate the start as this can be a little tricky to find!

What I really want to tell you about is why this walk is so beautiful. The majority of the walk is under canopy, and as you delve deeper into the bush along a well-defined walking track you get a wonderful sense of calm.

Along this walk youā€™ll cross fresh flowing water, see expansive lookouts south across the magnificent tablelands of Morton National Park. Getting closer to the water fall you walk under a huge sandstone cliff, which at some points you may need to duck your head because its so low. But you get the real feeling of Australiaā€™s ancient past, where you are walking was once under the ocean millions of years ago! Wow, breathtaking and a great thought to ponder!

Soon you start to hear that relaxing and soothing sound of clean mountain water cascading down over the cliff face, which of course is Fairy Bower Falls. My husband and I were very lucky to see three stunning Lyre Birds at this point foraging around for food and scratching the surface of the earth and forest floor.

By this stage you have this perfectly true and serene feeling of wilderness, everything is quiet, except for the sounds of Lyre birds, canopy birdlife and of course the waterfall itself!

Navigating down to the base of the waterfall I admit does require dexterity and I needed a bit of help to position my feet over the rocks and in some cases a little slippery. But once we were down, it was the most relaxing and natural place Iā€™d been in a while. I witnessed great gallons of water spilling over the cliff and creating a virtual mesmerising wilderness shower before my eyes.

We sat at the base of the falls just enjoying the peace and beauty of this very special place and we captured some stunning pictures of which one I have posted on my blog for you to take a look at.

After the feeling of peace and tranquillity had consumed our mind and soul, we walked back along the way we came towards where the car was parked. I must say it is a bit of a trek walking out and some fitness is required walking out, but I found the vigorous nature of some uphill bushwalking stimulating and refreshing in itself and of course stimulated our appetite!

We did the walk as an afternoon walk, and once weā€™d driven back to Bundanoon we stopped in at Ye Olde Bicycle Shoppe CafĆ© in town for a lovely serving of freshly made scones and tea, the perfect way to end our bushwalking and waterfall adventure!

Fairy Bower Falls is a must see stunning waterfall, that is easily accessed and offers a stimulating and vigorous walk to itā€™s base. A visit here will make you feel truly relaxed in body, mind and soul.

Most of us have experienced certain issues when we fly. Thereā€™s the way-too-loud inflight announcement when youā€™ve just fallen asleep, the mediocre-at-best meals and of course, dry skin. Weā€™re talking about the way your face feels after sitting in a pressurised, air-conditioned plane for hours on end.

And, itā€™s not just about the way you look, Itā€™s about the way you feel too. Dry, tired and crusty ā€“ not great if a loved one or business colleague is waiting at the other end.

So how do you solve this? Whatā€™s the best way to hydrate your skin on a flight?

There are a number of tips and tricks out there including cleansing and exfoliating before the flight (who has time do this??), wearing less makeup, applying moisturising cream repeatedly, drinking plenty of waterā€¦ the list goes on.

You see, the only way to save your skin is to keep the moisture levels as high as possible. And although the above tips can work, weā€™ve found a solutions that not only works brilliantly, but is the easiest solution while onboard a flight.

Weā€™re talking about Moisturising Mists. Just a few sprays directly onto your face will have you transformed. And, the beauty is that you can do it from your seat and itā€™s all over in a few moments. Regular water splashed on your face may feel good, but all itā€™s doing is making your face dryer.

Walking into a supermarket and trying to pick out which honey goes into your shopping trolley can be quite an ordeal. Youā€™re confronted by a wall of yellow and gold, each brand promising a sweet new world.

So how do you choose? What ā€˜typeā€™ of honey is best for you?

Itā€™s a complex area and there are many factors that determine the ā€˜bestā€™ honey out there. First thereā€™s the type of floral nectar collected by the bees as well as other factors such as the soil, weather and other environmental influences in the area where the honey is made. And then thereā€™s the beekeeping practices maintained by the producer.

However, a universal opinion is that raw is best.

Weā€™re talking about raw honey thatā€™s unprocessed and contains all its nutrients. Honey thatā€™s not treated and that maintains its natural crystallisation that is so often heated and smoothed out by most major commercial brands. Weā€™re talking about honey that you simply canā€™t find on your supermarket shelves.

Thatā€™s why at Australia To You weā€™re proud to offer Bilpin Bush Honey, honey thatā€™s pure and unprocessed. And their most popular product is their Raw Honey ā€“ unrefined, chemicalā€“free and offering subtle flavor differences from season to season.

So do yourself a favour and experience the raw talent of Bilpin Bush Honey here.
